Job Description:
- Senior Database Administrator provides expertise across DBA spectrum, such as performance, backup & recovery based on knowledge of high availability, clustering, database storage, & partitioning.
- They are responsible for collaborating w/ business owners to translate business requirements to database design.
- They coordinate database tasks w/ project managers to provide resources analyses & timelines.
- Other duties include distributing workload, adhering to company policies & identifying new technologies.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Anticipates potential changes in performance based on knowledge and experience both in terms of database and global view of the enterprise. Understands and utilizes performance concepts required for various database components. Effectively identifies, isolates, and corrects database performance issues. Evaluates the effectiveness of the decision's outcome in comparison to expected results from alternatives.
• Applies in-depth knowledge and expertise to create, implement, and guide others in complex database structures and meet defined SLA. Performs capacity planning, implements alternative storage methods, and reduces both hardware footprints and licensing costs.
• Assesses data architecture's portability, performance, availability, reusability, reliability, and scalability. Creates and maintains architecture describing the design of the physical implementation of the integration infrastructure, based on the logical architecture and business requirements. Ensures the data architecture meets all the aforementioned requirements.
• Collaborates with business owners and provides expertise in the translation of business process to logical design. Creates, implements, and reviews complex database structures. Considers the consequences of each alternative with all stakeholders.
• Demonstrates responsibility in the creation of logical and physical database structures, proposing optimal DR/HA architecture and implementing a reliable, optimized database design to meet required SLAs.
• Discovers and initiates database administration tasks as necessary to maintain 100% uptime, consistent performance, and 50% headroom. Searches constantly for opportunities to improve performance.
• Documents features and strategy, ensures SOX compliance, and adheres to CME Group policy and audit requirements.
• Identifies strategy to improve database performance by implementing best practices and standards, eliminating fallouts, solving problems, mentoring junior staff, and creating consistency across all applications and databases. Develops programming and development standards.

- MS SQL DBA
- Expertise in SQLServer Management studio
- Expertise in IDERA, SCOM, DMP
- Expertise in Window clustering
- Expertise in Log shipping and SRDF
- Expertise in mirroring
- Expertise in PerfMon, SQL Profiler
- Oracle DBA -->
- Expert in Oracle RAC, ASM, OEM, RMAN, DataPump, GoldenGate/ DataGuard, AWR, ASH.
- Expertise in LINUX, SAN and network technologies
- Experienced with alternate DB technologies
- Proficient in storage level replication
- (e.g., SRDF, Shadow Image)
