Payroll Specialist

Location: RICHARDSON, TX
Duration: 6 Months Contract to Hire
Job Description & Responsibilities:
- Accurate and timely processing of semi-monthly payroll, including appropriate uploads, documentation, and necessary approvals are received as required. Ensure payroll information is both complete and balanced prior to submission
- Distribute and or mail out any live checks
- Set up new locations in our multi-state jurisdiction to ensure proper state and city taxes are properly calculated
- Pulling reports for all direct deposit changes and working with internal partners to verify
- Maintain accurate and complete payroll records in a timely and highly organized manner, to successfully pass internal and external audits and reviews
- Calculate earnings, deductions and/or taxes, including retro-pay, merit increases, terminations, garnishments, federal taxes, etc.
- Process various pay adjustments, additional payments including hours that captured within the electronic timekeeping system as well as various benefit and 401(k) deductions or credits
- Responds in a timely manner to management and employees regarding general payroll and HR related questions/issues to help resolves accordingly
- Assist with the review, analytics and auditing of current payroll, benefits and tax procedures and information to ensure accuracy and compliance with all regulatory agencies
- Upon request, submit on behalf of managers User Provisioning requests for newly promoted or hired managers, as needed
- Liaison with payroll vendor and interact with Payroll and Time and Attendance dedicated rep
- Follow up and communicate with management and employees on unapproved timecards weekly and on-going to ensure the payroll cutoff deadlines are met
- May be asked to Train new hires on the Time and Attendance and Time off Tool
Required:
- Minimum High school diploma required. Associates degree or some college strongly preferred
- Minimum of three years’ experience in processing payroll in a mid-size, multi-state environment required
- Prior payroll and timesheet processing experience is required
- ADP Workforce Now proficient required
- Minimum of three years demonstrated knowledge of payroll laws and regulations
- Processing payroll in multi-state jurisdiction preferred
Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Proficiency in the use of PC software tools for analysis, audits, and reports (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access)
- Effective time management and analytical skills with proven ability to be a self-starter, self-motived and highly accountable
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion due to the position’s access to a wide variety of payroll information, files, and records in written and electronic formats
- Demonstrated experience working effectively and well in a team environment
- Previous experience establishing positive working relationships both internally and externally
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Demonstrated experience completing a variety of tasks with time-sensitive requirements
